Danaus Melanippus Hegesippus (Black Vein Tiger)


I took the photos of the black vein tiger butterfly above and below in Bengkulu Sumatera Indonesia. This butterfly characterized by black head and thorax with many white spot (polka dot head and thorax). The abnomen is tawny-orange. The fore wing is rich orange from the base with black thick vein. The apical half of the fore wing is black with some white bands. The hind wing is white  with  black thick vein margin,  and at the border there is two series of white spots.
