Clubtail Dragonfly (Ictinogomphus decoratus)






Those photos above were taken in Bengkulu Sumatra Indonesia. The common name for this dragonfly is clubtail dragonfly (Ictinogomphus decoratus). It gets its common name by the looks of its end rear that resemble a club. The back ground color of this dragonfly is black with some yellow stripes at the thorax and yellow bands at the abdomen. The yellow color also can be found at its front face. The wings is transparent with black color at the pterostigma. The size of this dragonfly from head to cercus is about 80mm.

This dragonfly is from the order Odonata, family of Gomphidae under genus of Ictinogomphus.
