Beautiful Dayflying moth (Ophthalmis milete)





This beautiful moth photos were taken in Bengkulu Sumatra Indonesia. This moth has the body size about 25 to 30 mm with wing span about 60 to 70mm. The abdomen is black with white bands and bright yellow hair at the tail. The thorax is hairy in black and white color. Behind the head at the thorax, there is a bright yellow "collar" hair.The back ground color of upper wing and hind wing is black. There are three rows of white marks on the upper wing and two rows at the hind wing. Those white marks are surrounded by sandy blue marks. The cilia is white. 

The most resemble to this species is come from the family of Noctuidae under Subfamily Agaristinae. The species name is Ophthalmis milete
