Golden Orb-Web Spider (Nephila pilipes), Sumatera Indonesia


This photo was taken in Bengkulu Sumatra Indonesia. A juvenile golden orb-web spider (Nephila pilipes) is making its web.The web of this species is known to be the strongest spider web. It even can catch a small bird. The mature Nephila pilipes is enable to build the largest size of the spider web too. The silk of this spider recently had been used as cloth material.
