Black and White Banded Abdomen Ichneumon Wasp (Messatoporus sp.), Sumatra Indonesia



Those photos above were taken in Bengkulu Sumatra Indonesia. This beautiful wasp is from the family of Ichneumonidae. To find the species name for this wasp is kind of difficult because there are thousands of species under the family of  Ichneumonidae. But this one has the appearance resembles its long distance cousin - Messatoporus discoidalis - which spotted in Georgia USA. This wasp has black and white banded abdomen, transparrent wings, white band at the middle of black anntennae, and black and white banded at tarsus and tibia of the hind legs.
