The green giant mantis (hierodula sp), Sumatra Indonesia






Those photos above were taken in Bengkulu Sumatra Indonesia. This green mantis is from the family of Mantidae under genus of Hierodula. It has green color all over the body except its under side of abdomen. There is an irregular white mark at the edge of the wing. The length of the body is about 70-80mm. This mantis resemble to  Hierodula membranacea (Giant Asian Mantis) found in Malaya, but the mark of the wing resemble to Hierodula patellifera. The common green mantis found in Indonesia is Hierodula vitrea, but the images of this species still unavailable trough the internet.
