Penthicodes farinosa, Sumatra Indonesia


Photos in this post were taken in Bengkulu Sumatra Indonesia. This planthopper is also known as the small-horned lanternfly. It is from the family : Fulgoridae under genus of Penthicodes . The species name for this planthopper is Penthicodes farinosa (Weber, 1801)



This planthopper has red head and pronotum, yellow eye with black spot at the center. There are two white marks between the eyes. The scutellum is white, the background color of fore wings are white with some black and brown irregular patterned marks.


At the front head, there exist a small horn at the front middle of the white head marks. The wing span is approximated about 60mm.
