Black Darkling beetle (Platydema sp) Beetle, Sumatra Indonesia



Photos in this post were taken in Bengkulu Sumatra Indonesia. This black darkling beetle is from the family of Tenebrionidae under genus of Platydema.


This beetle resembles to Amargymus beetle except for the size and the antennae type. This beetle has metallic black color all over its body, and it becomes iridescent under the light. The body is convex shape. It has rows of groove resemble rows of line along the elytra. It has black capitate antennae. The size is aproximately 10mm.
