Lady Beetle (Epilachna admirabilis), Sumatra Indonesia


Photos of this plant-eating lady beetle were taken in Bengkulu Sumatra Indonesia. This lady beetle is from the family of occinellidae under genus of Epilachna. The species name is Epilachna admirabilis (Crotch, 1874).


This lady bug has 12 spots on its elytra, 6 spots in each elytron. Two black spots of each elyron located side by side to their pairs between elytron making they looks like just two spots on the elytra. The background color of wings are orange, and covered with short and dense hairs which made this lady beetle does not have a shiny appearance.  It is lined with 11 points.


The size of this lady beetle is about 5mm to 6mm. This lady beetle might be confused with another member of  Epilachninae sub family which has the species name Henosepilachna argus (Bryony ladybird).
