The Peacock Brenthia Moth (Brenthia sp.), Sumatra Indonesia


Photos in this post were taken in Bengkulu Sumatra Indonesia. This tiny moth is from the family of Choreutidae under genus of Brenthia.








This moth has dark background color at the upper side of hind wing and fore wing, filled with white spots over it. The dark back ground collor forming the zigzag pattern near the discal across the fore wing. near the terminal, there are some iridescents metallic spots.

The legs, abdomen and antennae has black and white bands. The head and thorax is grey. This moth mimics the jumping spider while at rest. It is done by spreading upside its wings like the peacock does. The size is about 8mm.
