Stilt-legged Fly (Rainieria sp), Sumatra Indonesia


Photos in this post were taken in Bengkulu Sumatra Indonesia. This fly is from the family of Micropezidae under genus of Rainieria. The appearance resemble to its relatives from America i.e. Rainieria antennaepes (Say, 1823)


This fly has long legs and slender body. The front legs has white color at the tarsus. This fly often raises its fore legs which made they look resemble to the antennae. The color of the body is shiny grey, the leg is brown with two black bands at the femur of medium and hind leg. The body length is about 10mm.
