Feather-like Hind Tarsi Clear Wing Moth (Macrotarsipus similis), Sumatra Indonesia



Photos in this post were taken in Bengkulu Sumatra Indonesia. This moth is from the family of  Sesiidae under genus of  Macrotarsipus. The scientific name for this species is Macrotarsipus similis (Arita & Gorbunov , 1995).



The unique of this moth is it has black feather-like tarsi at its hind legs. The wings are black at the veins and transparrent at the cells. The head, thorax and abdomen are bluish black. The legs are blue with white hairy bands at the leg's joints. The wingspan is about 20mm.
