Plume moth (Xyroptila marmarias), Sumatra Indonesia


Photos in this post were taken in Bengkulu Sumatra Indonesia. This moth is from the family of  Pterophoridae  under genus of Xyroptila. The scientific name for this species is  Xyroptila marmarias (Meyrick, 1908).


This unique tiny moth orange background color of body with some white bands at the abdomen.  The wing shape and the position of wing at rest is different to orinary moth. It is like the dragonfly at rest. It is also resemble to a mosquitto when at rest. The wingspan is about 20mm.
