Slender Rice Bug (Leptocorisa oratorius), Sumatra Indonesia


Photos in this post were taken in Bengkulu Sumatra Indonesia. This bug is from the family of Alydidae under genus of Leptocorisa. The scientific name for this species is Leptocorisa oratorius (Fabricius, 1794).


This bug has green color of  head and body. The hemelytra are brown.This bug is known to be a serious pest of rice and can reduce yield by as much as 30%. In Indonesia  this bug is called "walang sangit". It has slender and thin body. The size without antennae is about 16mm.
