White Winged Red Costa Tiger Moth (Aloa lactinea), Sumatra Indonesia


Photos in this post were taken in Bengkulu Sumatra Indonesia. This moth is from the family of Erebidae under genus of Aloa. The scientific name for this species is Aloa lactinea (Cramer, 1777). 


This moth has white color all over its head thorax and wings. Narrow red color ornamented the thorax and forewing's costa. The upperside of abdomen has orange bands over black background. The hind wing and underside of abdomen has some black spots. The tarsus of each leg has black and white bands. The wing span is about 60mm
