Wolf Spider (Hogna sp)

Photos in this post were taken in Bengkulu Sumatra Indonesia. This wolf spider is from the family of Lycosidae under genus of Hogna.

While i was taking the photo of this spider at the night, i was suprised with some glittering reflections came from the upperside of this spider abdomen. Then i found out that the reflections were coming from many tiny eyes of spiderlings on the back of this spider. The closer view of the spiderlings can be seen at the photo below.

Certainly, this is a mother hogna wolf spider. This mother will carry her spiderlings on her abdomen for several weeks, until they are large enough to hunt for themselves. The size of this spider is about 20mm.
