Bavia Jumping Spider (Bavia aericeps)


This photo was taken in Bengkulu Sumatra Indonesia. This spider is from the family of Salticidae under genus of Bavia. he scientific name for this spider is Bavia aericeps (Simon, 1877).



This jumping spider is the longest i have ever seen in Bengkulu Sumatra Indonesia. The body length from front to spinneret is about 13mm. It has long abdomen in brown color. Along the centre of the abdomen, there is a white hair stripe. The legs are yellowish-brown which almost translucent at the femora, with the exception of the first pair, which is dark brown, long, robust, and held in a way resembling a scorpion
